Mitsubishi has launched its latest concept car at the Paris motor show.
Known as the GT-PHEV Concept, the car aims to outline the firm’s future design direction, and follows on from two previous plug-in hybrid concepts – the Concept XR PHEV II at the 2015 Geneva motor show and the EX Concept at the 2015 Tokyo motor show.
The GT-PHEV is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine, which is combined with a 25Kw battery, with CO2 emissions being quoted at 26g/km.
It also promises an electric-only range of 75 miles – a vast improvement on the current Outlander PHEV’s 32 mile range.
Inside, the concept uses monitors on either side of the centre console which serve as side-view mirrors to show the view behind the vehicle, while a heads-up display at the bottom of the screen presents vehicle speed and navigational data.
The firm has also updated the vehicle’s four-wheel-drive system, which uses short approach and departure angles to help the car out in off-road conditions.
It is likely the GT-PHEV could influence the design direction of the next Outlander or ASX.
