Mitsubishi UK is launching cut-price servicing on all its cars and pick-ups from 1 July, which is available to fleet and retail customers alike.
Set to be priced from £150 for its new i-Car city car up to £250 for an L200 or Shogun, the move should effectively mean three years’ worth of servicing for the price of one year and could translate to big savings for fleets (given that the L200 pick-up’s previous fixed-price service plan cost £750).
The Mitsubishi Service Value Plan covers the first three scheduled services – now increased from 9000 to 12,500 miles or one year for most cars. About a third of the cost is expected to be borne by the dealers but Mitsubishi’s UK director sales & marketing, Lance Bradley, is confident it will be a success, revealing the original idea actually came from a dealer who was keen for a scheme that could help improve dealer service retention rates and profitability.
Any expected RV uplift may take longer to materialise though, as senior car editor at Glass’s Guide, Jeff Paterson, told BusinessCar: “The move is positive in terms of improving brand perception to used buyers rather than to outright RVs.”
