Mitsubishi is to supply 40 new Shoguns to the Highways Agency (HA) following the 30 already delivered by the Japanese car maker in March.
The 4×4 will be used by the Agency’s Trafic Officers to patrol the nation’s roads from the third quarter of this year.
The Shoguns will be built at the firm’s Specialist Vehicle Operations Centre where they will be fitted with upgrades to cater for the Agency’s needs including light bars, grille lights and the Highways Agency livery. This process can take up to 24 hours to complete.
As well as the Highways Agency, Mitsubishi supplies vehicles to the Ministry of Defense Police, Severn Trent Waters and Thames Valley Police’s Dog Units.
“The Mitsubishi Shogun with its exceptional towing capacity, high reliability, low running costs and large boot space make it particularly suited for its traffic officer role” said Alan Rowley, contracts manager for the Highways Agency.
“This latest deal in an ongoing relationship with the Highways Agency (HA) is testament to the quality of the Mitsubishi brand and their ability to provide a ‘cradle-to-grave’ conversion service”.
Dan Pigot, corporate sales manager at Mitsubishi UK, said:
“No-one knows better than the manufacturer what can be done, no third parties need to be involved so the whole process is nicely joined up and the vehicles will also benefit from the conversion running in line with the vehicle warranty.”
