
Alex Smith has been appointed as chair of auto retailer Lookers.
In his new role, Smith will also sit on parent company Global Auto Holdings Limited’s executive committee with responsibility for European operations.
He will join James Brearley in leading Lookers alongside a recently-appointed new executive team.
Smith’s previous role was as managing director of Volkswagen Group UK, a position he held for six years. He has also served as a vice president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, and is a former managing director of Nissan Motor GB.
