Citroen has unveiled the new second-generation version of its C5 Aircross medium SUV.
Based on parent company Stellantis’s STLA-Medium platform, the model will be made available with a choice of fully electric, plug-in hybrid, and 48V hybrid powertrains.
Two EV options will be on offer – a 210hp Standard Range, with a 73kWh battery and a provisional WLTP range of 323 miles, and a 230hp Extended Range, with a 97kWh battery and a provisional WLTP range of 422 miles.
The plug-in hybrid features a 150hp petrol engine and a 125hp electric motor, offering a combined output of 195hp. A 21kWh battery allows a provisional WLTP EV-only range of 53 miles.
The 48V hybrid features a 136hp petrol engine, augmented by a 12hp motor and a 0.9kWh battery. The electric motor supports the petrol engine, and can power the car alone for short distances at low speeds. Citroen says fuel economy is around 15% better than with a pure petrol car.
Compared with the outgoing C5 Aircross, the new model’s length of 4,652mm is 150mm longer, while an extended wheelbase is said to allow a 51mm increase in rear seat kneeroom.
A 651-litre boot is available, with no reduction in size for electric or plug-in hybrid versions.
Citroen says a ‘Cascade’ HD touchscreen is the largest it has ever offered, while the interior also features an enhanced head-up display.
Sales of the new C5 Aircross are due to begin in the second half of 2025. Full UK specs and prices are yet to be announced.
