The European Parliament has pushed back the 95g/km target for car CO2 emissions by a year from 2020 to 2021.
The move follows lobbying by German car manufacturers and claims that the original target was unrealistic and too costly to meet.
The new timeframe means car manufacturers have one more year to get the average emissions across their car ranges to 95g/km or less. The 2015 target is 130g/km.
This comes as Transport for London (TfL) announces a series of proposed changes to the Congestion Charge including a higher cost, enabling discount applications and renewals to be made online, allowing drivers to change the date of a pre-paid charge on the day they’re travelling, making Auto Pay accounts payable by direct debit, changing the NHS reimbursement scheme to allow refunds for Auto Pay payments, and a number of other minor changes.
