Jaguar‘s new luxury XJ will start from £52,500 when it arrives in the UK at the beginning of next year.
Revealed for the first time in these pictures, the XJ takes a huge leap forward with modern styling designed to take on the German prestige brands.
The CO2 figure of 184g/km is a significant improvement over its predecessor, with the new 3.0-litre engine from the executive-sector XF replacing the current XJ’s 2.7 209g/km unit.
Standard and long-wheelbase models will both be available from launch, with the standard taking 68% of volume, and Jaguar has solved one of the car’s biggest weaknesses with a 520-litre boot that’s now bigger than the BMW 7-series or Audi A8’s 500-litre luggage compartment. The Mercedes S-class trumps the lot though with 560 litres.
As well as the dominant 275PS diesel, expected to account for 85% of sales, the range is filled out with 5.0-litre naturally aspirated and supercharged petrol engines.
