Kia has introduced new engines and simplified range structures for its Picanto city car and XCeed lower-medium crossover.

The Picanto is now available only with a new 68hp petrol engine, paired with five-speed manual or five-speed automated manual transmission.

The XCeed comes with a new 1.0-litre 115hp mild hybrid petrol engine, said to improve fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions compared with the previous 1.5-litre petrol, or a 179hp 1.6-litre petrol, available with the GT-Line S equipment grade only.

Both model ranges now consist of Pure, GT-Line, and GT-Line S grades.

The Picanto range now starts at £16,695, while the XCeed starts at £25,165.

Orders are open now, with the first deliveries due in September.

Kia says it will also be extending the new range structure to its other ICE and hybrid models, to ensure consistency across its range.
