UK orders have opened for Volvo’s new S60 saloon.
The model is currently only available in a single spec – the R Design Edition equipment grade, paired with a 250hp petrol engine.
R Design Edition is a high-level, sports-inspired grade featuring lowered sports suspension and 19in alloy wheels, along with heated sports front seats, and black and metal mesh interior trim.
Other standard equipment includes: a driver’s head-up display; a rear-view camera; front and rear parking sensors; a heated steering wheel; a 14-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system; and a 9in touchscreen with sat-nav, along with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.
Advanced driver assistance systems include Pilot Assist, which controls the car’s acceleration and braking, and assists with steering.
There is also a blind spot information system, with cross traffic alert and rear collision mitigation.
The engine, which drives the front wheels, is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Official combined fuel economy is between 35.3mpg and 39.8mpg.
The model is priced at £37,920, with customer deliveries expected from May.
Volvo says further equipment grades will join the S60 range later in the year, along with powertrain options including petrol-electric hybrid and four-wheel drive.
No diesel variant will be offered, in line with Volvo’s pledge to ditch the fuel with all new models from now on.
