Mercedes-Benz has opened UK orders for 48V hybrid versions of its new CLA.
The new powertrain, which joins the existing EV version in the CLA line-up, features a 1.5-litre petrol engine, and a 48V 1.3kWh battery. It is being offered with outputs of 136hp, 163hp, and 190hp – the latter with all-wheel drive – and comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
A hybrid electric motor is integrated into the transmission and can augment the petrol engine with up to 22kW and 200Nm of additional power and torque. This allows the car to drive using electric power alone at urban speeds and when less than 22kW is needed.
There is a choice of five equipment grades – Sport, Sport Executive, AMG Line Executive, AMG Line Premium, and AMG Line Premium Plus.
Prices start at £38,700. The first customer deliveries are expected in Q1 2026.
