Vauxhall has introduced a new Extended Range version of its Frontera Electric SUV.

The new variant features a 54kWh battery, allowing a range of up to 253 miles on the official WLTP cycle.

It joins the existing 44kWh EV and 48V hybrid versions in the Frontera line-up.

As well as the bigger battery, other efficiency changes for the Extended Range include a new rear spoiler, under-car aerodynamics, and eco tyres.

The Extended Range comes with the same 113hp electric motor as the 44kWh version, and features 100kW DC charging capability, allowing a 20-80% charge in around 28 minutes. A standard 11kW onboard charger allows a 20-80% charge in 3 hours 25 minutes from an 11kW AC public charger.

The Frontera Electric Extended Range is priced at £27,495 with the Design equipment grade, and £29,895 with the GS grade. The first deliveries are expected to start from the Autumn.

Additionally, Vauxhall has made the starting price for the 44kWh Frontera Electric cheaper than the 48V hybrid version, by £265 with both equipment grades. The 44kWh Frontera now starts from £23,995 with the Design grade, while an equivalent 48V hybrid costs £24,255.
