Vauxhall has opened orders for the Sports Tourer estate version of its Astra GSe.
The GSe features a 225hp plug-in hybrid powertrain, pairing a 180hp petrol engine with a 110hp electric motor. A 12.4kWh battery allows a pure electric range of up to 39 miles on the official WLTP cycle, putting it in the 12% BIK company car tax bracket.
Billed as a sporty option in the Astra range, the GSe features suspension revisions designed to deliver sharper handling, such as 11% stiffer springs and Frequency Selective Damper technology. There’s also recalibrated steering, with responsiveness said to be increased by 9% compared with the regular Astra, and a revised selectable Sport driving setting, with the car’s electronic stability control set to engage slightly later.
The suspension revisions mean the car sits 10mm lower to the ground, and other sporty styling elements include 18in alloy wheels, a black roof, and black Griffin logos.
Prices for the Astra Sports Tourer GSe start at £43,250 – £2,200 more than the hatchback version, which arrived earlier this year.
