Pendragon Vehicle Management (PVM) has developed a new app designed to support fleet drivers on a day-to-day basis.

According to Penrdragon, the app allows drivers to book a service or MOT, report a breakdown or accident, request a VE103 form in order to travel abroad, and organise tyre and glass replacement and repairs.

The app also allows motorists to access traffic reports, FAQs, contact details, data on fines, BVRLA fair wear and tear guides, and vehicle contract information.

Available for iOS and Android devices, Pendragon said the app is being rolled out among customers now with further developments planned as the firm expands its range of automated systems.

“With the ongoing growth of our fleet, PVM is complementing its value and choice to drivers and customers by allowing them to access our services and information 24 hours a day, so that drivers and businesses can operate when it is most convenient for them,” said Neal Francis, divisional managing director at Pendragon Vehicle Management.

Recent research from the firm suggested that diesel is “the only realistic choice” for business drivers that cover a high number of miles.

According to data from PVM, it would cost 8.5% a year more to run a fleet of plug-in hybrid vehicles than a diesel fleet.

The data is based on a “typical 270-strong fleet in the construction industry” and equates to an addition spend of £280,000 over two years thanks to higher P11D values and increased lease costs.

The 270 vehicles comprise cars and vans, though it is “weighted more towards cars”, a spokesman for the brand told BusinessCar.

According to the leasing company, diesel “provides reliability [and] cost-effectiveness, and can keep the vehicle moving for longer” than EV or PHEV alternatives.

“In recent months, various press headlines have prematurely portrayed diesel vehicles in a poor light,” said Francis. “Aged and poorly maintained diesel vehicles are very harmful to the environment. However, for those who change their vehicles typically every four years, the new diesel technology and emission standards are class-leading with the economic and environmental argument compelling.”
