Audi has confirmed details of plug-in hybrid versions of its new A6 executive car.

The E-Hybrid powertrain will be available with both Saloon and Avant estate bodystyles.

It pairs a 252hp petrol engine with a 141hp electric motor, for a combined system output of 299hp.

A battery capacity of 25.9 kWh (net 20.7 kWh) allows an EV-only range of up to 64 miles for the Saloon, and 63 miles for the Avant. The maximum AC charging rate is 11kW, allowing a full recharge in two-and-a-half hours.

Quattro all-wheel drive is standard, as is all-wheel steering.

There is a choice of Sport, S Line, and Edition 1 equipment grades, priced at £60,980, £63,780, and £68,930 respectively with the Saloon bodystyle. Avants incur a £1,950 premium.

UK orders will open in early June, with the first customer deliveries expected in late Summer.
