Ponthir Honda, located on Ponthir Road in Newport, Wales, has secured a contract to supply vehicles to the Welsh Ambulance Service, for the second consecutive year.
Following the success of the relationship in its inaugural year, Ponthir Honda will be supplying 36 Honda CR-Vs to the Welsh Ambulance Service Fleet to replace the remaining 2WD RRV vehicles. The CR-V 1.6 SE PLUS Navi 4WD will be a great addition to the existing fleet of 115 Honda RRVs, making even the most difficult locations reachable for the Ambulance services.
The Welsh Ambulance Service serves a population of over 2.9 million people, covering an area of 20,640 kilometers encompassing seaside resorts, rural and urban areas. The service attends over 250,000 emergency calls every year, and the new fleet will help ensure they can continue with their work, responding to emergency calls as quickly as possible.
Michael Jeffery, Director at Ponthir Honda, said: “We’re delighted to continue our relationship with the Welsh Ambulance Service and supply them with a further 36 vehicles. The work that the emergency service does is remarkable, and it makes Ponthir Honda proud that we can be a small part of that.”
Gavin Lane, Assistant regional Fleet Manager at Welsh Ambulance Service, comments: “The Welsh Ambulance Service is looking forward to having its entire fleet of RRV vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive technology. It will increase our winter resilience ensuring we can continue responding to emergency calls in extreme weather situations.”
