Renault has introduced a new, more powerful motor for its Zoe electric car.
The new 80kW R110 motor is the same size as the R90 motor that preceded it, but Renault says it delivers a further 16hp.
Renault says this provides drivers with increased performance, taking nearly two seconds off the car’s 49.7mph-74.5mph acceleration time, and offering 225nm of torque.
Elisabeth Delval, Renault’s assistant programme director for the Zoe, said: “Thanks to this power boost, the Zoe is even more responsive and versatile when used for journeys out of town.
“In addition to being able to enjoy the pleasure of driving a ZOE, drivers will also benefit from the longest range available for a mass-market electric car.”
Renault has also announced other additions to the Zoe, including Android Auto connectivity through the R-Link Evolution infotainment system.
Renault has also made available a new Aconite metallic purple body cover, and for Dynamique Nav trim and above a new Purple Interior Pack that includes a violet satin finish for the dashboard trim strip and air vent, gear lever base and loudspeaker surrounds, along with black and violet fabric upholstery.
Order books for the updated Zoe will open in the UK in spring, with the first customer deliveries expected in late summer.
