The main motivation for UK workers taking part in salary sacrifice car schemes is to reduce their tax and National Insurance burden, according to research by Venson Automotive Solutions.
A survey by the company found that 61% of drivers who were already in or would like to join a salary sacrifice car scheme said their primary motivation was to reduce their taxable income.
Other motivations included being able to drive an EV, given by 40% of respondents, and having all monthly car costs included, given by 35%.
In addition, the survey found that 75% of 25-34-year-olds would choose a job that included a salary sacrifice scheme over an equally attractive role that didn’t.
Venson client management director Simon Staton said: “Attracting and retaining top talent remains a key focus for employers across the country. Salary sacrifice car schemes are no longer just a tax-efficient perk, they are a critical tool for fleet professionals and their HR colleagues, which can make or break employee recruitment and engagement.
“Our survey has really illuminated the value both current and future employees place on benefits like these. Sal-sac helps employees drive the eco-friendly car they want in a neat financial package that makes them feel rewarded and valued by their employer. All while helping to support low-emission fleet goals.”
