Navigation and telematics specialist TomTom has seen another year of growth for its fleet management business, after recording a 38% increase in its install base.
In particular, the number of vehicles managed by TomTom Business Solutions’ technology has increased by 91,000 since January 2013, reaching a total of 330,000 vehicles. More than 27,000 clients use TomTom’s fleet management service to manage vehicles.
Thomas Schmidt, managing director at TomTom Business Solutions, said “This year-on-year growth reflects our ongoing success in bringing to market products that offer significant value to companies operating vehicle fleets.”
TomTom is set to launch its latest product, currently untitled, in the first quarter of 2014 and the firm claimed it is “a product designed to help small businesses take advantage of connected car technology”.
The device will plug directly into a vehicle’s on-board diagnostics (OBD) port, with no installation charges, allowing for an entry-level track and trace product that customers can install themselves.
