Emissions and economy data for LCVs is finally available online, after the Vehicle Certification Agency launched its van database last week.
Developed with the SMMT and the Department for Transport, the new database lists 1418 models from small vans to 4×4 vans and pick-ups, offering searches across eight criteria and listing each model’s mpg, CO2, gross weight, vehicle length, fuel type, engine size and transmission.
The vans are tested unladen using the same test cycle as cars, which have had CO2 figures produced since 2002. The VCA warns, though, that the van figures “are not intended to be representative of those achieved under ‘real life’ driving conditions.however, they will be useful in comparing the relative fuel economy and CO2 emissions of similar vehicles.”
