Vauxhall has confirmed specs and prices for the new all-electric version of its Astra lower-medium hatch.

The Astra Electric, which is available to order now, features a 156hp electric motor, with a 54kWh battery, allowing a range of 258 miles between charges under official WLTP testing.

An 11kW onboard charger is fitted as standard, allowing a full battery charge in five hours and 45 minutes using a public charger. Alternatively, 100kW rapid charging capability allows a 10-80% charge to be completed in 30 minutes.

There is a choice of two equipment grades – GS, and Ultimate.

Standard equipment with the GS grade includes 18in alloy wheels, a black roof and black door mirrors, LED headlights with high beam assist, a 10in digital instrument cluster, 10in touchscreen with voice-activated sat-nav, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Further features of the Ultimate grade include pixel matrix LED headlights, a head-up display, bi-colour alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic roof.

Prices for the Astra Electric are £39,995 for the GS grade, and £43,110 for the Ultimate grade. The first deliveries are due later this summer.

An all-electric version of the Astra Sports Tourer estate will also be arriving later this year.
