Vauxhall has announced it will extend its lifetime warranty to second owners buying a car less than 12 months old and with less than 30,000 miles and bought from the brand’s approved used car dealer channel Network Q.
To maintain the warranty, owners will need to take their vehicles to a dealership annually for a free check and after 3yrs/60,000 miles, all servicing will also need to be carried out at an authorised repairer.
Duncan Aldred, managing director of Vauxhall, said that 80% of Network Q’s sales would “enjoy the lifetime warranty”. The network sold around 80,000 cars in 2010. Aldred added that Network Q accounts for around 70% of Vauxhall cars under 12 months old with less than 30,000 miles thanks to buying back the “vast majority of daily rental cars” and dealer demonstrators.
According to Vauxhall research, since the introduction of its lifetime warranty for new cars in August 2010, a third of the brand’s buyers have been influenced by the warranty and 10% said they would not have bought the car without it.
