Volvo revealed its new police traffic patrol car at the National Association of Police Fleet Managers Conference this week.
Developed in conjunction with the police, Volvo claims the V70 is the first front-line traffic car to be built on a standard production line alongside the civilian version.
“Customers can expect delivery of their Volvo V70 Turn Key police car within 12-14 weeks from their initial order,” said a Volvo spokesman. “All elements of the new Volvo V70 Turn Key police car are factory-built for UK forces from the battenburg livery and lightbar to all radio prep/wiring and a master control panel. The factory fitted options list reads slightly differently to usual and includes the VASCAR speed detection system, a police surveillance video camera and a two-dog cage.”
Having an off-the-shelf police car means that all warranty issues are supported by the car maker. Traditionally, warranty issues have been divided between the car maker and the business which converts the car to police specification.
While pricing has not been revealed, BusinessCar‘s sources claim the car is expected to cost in the region of £30,000.
Meanwhile, Volvo used the police event, hosted at Cheltenham Racecourse, to give its all-new baby off-roader the XC60 its UK debut.
