Webfleet and Peregrine.ai have teamed up to create what they describe as a next-generation driver assistance system.
On top of the existing AI-enabled capabilities of Webfleet Video, the addition of Peregrine’s Visual Intelligence functionality allows it to detect hazards such as red light violations, adverse weather conditions, slippery roads and size or weight restrictions. Visual Intelligence is also said to translate video footage into structured, clear insights, so fleet managers need to spend less time reviewing and interpreting footage and can make faster, smarter decisions.
As well as fleet manager insights, the system also delivers real-time driver alerts.
Jan-Maarten de Vries, president of fleet management solutions at Webfleet’s parent company Bridgestone, said: “This is a major step in our mission to make mobility safer and smarter. Together with Peregrine.ai, we’re delivering a next-generation driver safety solution that goes far beyond traditional dashcams – detecting and contextualizing road events and risks as they happen.”
Peregrine.ai CEO Steffen Heinrich said: “We’re proud to contribute our contextual AI technology to this collaboration. By making existing vehicles smarter with real-time insights, we’re helping fleets operate more safely and efficiently – at scale, and on the road today.”
The combined system is currently available to early adopters in the UK through a pilot programme.
