Just before the A6 left BusinessCar we nipped across the Channel for a whistle-stop family trip to Eurodisney, more for the benefit of my Winnie the Pooh fan fiancee than my daughter who was too young to appreciate most of it.
P&O Ferries carried us serenely across the Channel late on a Wednesday night in enough comfort to snatch a few minutes sleep, and the A6, which has grown on me more and more as I’ve appreciated its talents over the past half-year, took up the baton and couriered us down to a cheap hotel about 20 minutes from Paris.
I’m not sure there are many cars on sale that could have taken the ridiculous amount of random gear needed for two nights away with a small child quite so comfortably, quickly and efficiently. We arrived at the hotel in the middle of the night in far better shape than I’d expected, and managed to enjoy a full day of Disney the following day before an early night and early start to head back to Calais.
Over the round trip, the A6 averaged 43.0mpg despite the full load and cruising for long distances at the higher speed limit of French motorways. A fitting farewell trip for a car that has impressed more with every passing month.
