We’re in the late stages of our time with the excellent 320d Efficient Dynamics model and it’s still impressing.
It basically sums up the advances manufacturers have made in the past decade or so, highlighted by BMW’s fleet boss Stephen Chater at the recent ICFM conference. A 1992 3-series emitted 212g/km and offered 29.7mpg, and the official figures for the ED now read 109g/km and 68.9mpg.
That’s despite big increases in both power and the amount of equipment and safety technology that now need to be packaged into a car. Company car drivers have genuinely never had it so good.
