The trend for brightly coloured gloss plastics on smaller cars was arguably kicked off by the Fiat 500, and most city cars now feature it as part of a customisable package of options.
The Renault Captur is no different, with the opportunity to mix and match exterior and interior colours and trims.
The car is sold in three different themes, and our model has the grey and black Manhattan monochrome style; it’s probably one of the most understated styles you can go for, and it’s unlikely to offend any future used car buyers when it is remarketed.
However, this trend for shiny plastics in the interior has a tendency to create a static field, attracting any passing dust. It means the interior can look quite shabby in no time at all, even after cracking out the duster. As a result, the interior needs more maintenance than a standard dash.
Our Oyster Grey exterior body paint, which is independent of the Manhattan theme, is pretty pedestrian too, and the car can look a lot funkier when specced with a brighter colour and a contrasting roof shade.
However, when specifying a fleet vehicle, it’s always better to go for the sensible option when choosing colour and trim options because you know it needs to be sold on.
