“Range: 0 miles” is not helpful info to find scrolling through your car’s computer display on an unfamiliar country road miles from any obvious petrol station.
Yes, the fuel warning light came on during my previous short drive, but no, I wasn’t on a slope, and in my experience most cars have 20-30 miles grace before the ‘fumes-only’ stage. It was time for full eco-driving techniques and 10 nervous minutes until the satnav located a garage, but given I only then filled up 51 litres of a 60-litre tank, couldn’t the range indicator be a bit more accurate? It’s not good for the ticker.
