It wasn’t just diesels that dominated on the track at Le Mans as my Octavia Scout covered more than 1500 miles to France and back.
It may be half the distance the racers cover in 24 hours, but unshakeable economy of 40.3mpg wins for me, especially with higher speed limits on the peage.
I also found a particularly French use for the hidden storage space under the Scout’s boot floor when I stopped at the supermarche for some wine (pictured). This space worked ideally as a mobile wine cellar, and kept my satnav, mobile phone and iPod away from prying eyes when camping over the race weekend.
