The keyless entry system for the Ampera has its plus and minus points.
On the plus side, if the key’s in your pocket, any of the four doors can be opened – many systems don’t work on the rear ones – by pressing the silver button on the handle. It’s really useful, especially if you have kids, when the first port of call is often a rear door.
Less useful is the time it sometimes takes to lock, seemingly only when you’re not sure if you hit the button properly or not.
More than once I’ve hovered next to the car for a few seconds, waiting to see if it’ll lock.
Which it normally does.
