Skoda facelifted the Superb range last year, and recently added a new Outdoor model that gets four-wheel drive, a matt grey styling package of bumpers, wheelarch cladding, sid sills and load sill protection, as well as other extras over the SE level it’s based on, included heated washer nozzles.


The Superb’s interior and boot space is unmatched in the class, or most of the class above, to be honest.


The interior quality is good, and the Superb is a comfortable mile-muncher, especially with the slick DSG automatic gearbox. The Outdoor-spec cladding also gives the car a more butch look.


Considering how far Skoda has come, the residual on the Outdoor model isn’t great, coming in a shade behind the Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer at 30.4%. It does though beat the VW Passat Alltrack’s 28.7%.


The Outdoor costs £2000 more than the SE model with the same powertrain and four-wheel drive, but without the cladding and other extras. You’d have to really want the Outdoor version to make it worthwhile.


The Superb is an easy car to recommend, and the Outdoor version is the best looking, but expensive.
