Kia Sedona: One Minute Test

What's new: Our first chance to get our hands on the new Sedona. We went for the 2.9 CRDI manual in mid-spec LS trim priced at £19,262.
Excellent: With a list price below the magic £20k barrier for a large seven-seat MPV you have to be interested. This low price means depreciation is impressively low at £12,471, according to Topcalc.
Good: Interior space is good, and even with all seven seats in place there's still some luggage room. However, when folded, the rear seats don't fix in place so can still bounce around risking injury to, say, a dog in the boot.
Average: Given the engine claims to produce 183PS, the car doesn't feel at all gutsy (0-60mph 15.5secs).
Poor: Topcalc says the Kia will cost you 36.5p a mile. This is due to the large capacity engine and heavy total weight giving poor fuel consumption and CO2 (36.2mpg, 206g/km). A 1.8 diesel Ford Galaxy is lighter, quicker, better quality and comes in at 33.5p a mile.
Verdict: Don't let the low list price fool you - the running costs on this car are high. Not a fleet winner.
