What's new

Top spec Animal double-cab pick-up comes with a power upgrade giving 168PS, that's 32PS up on the standard L200's 2.5 diesel.

Excellent

Power upgrade gives the pick-up a serious turn of speed without sacrificing too much economy. M-way work becomes far easier and the mpg figure drops by 1mpg to 31.7.

Good

The equipment list makes the price attractive and includes; anti-lock brakes, anti-skid control, satnav, climate control, CD autochanger, alloys, powered windows/mirrors and leather seats.

Average

Rear seat leg room isn't the greatest, and oddly neither is the load bed length.

Poor

Gaudy side graphics and chrome trimmings aren't to everyone's taste. Tailgate can't be locked upright.

Verdict

Offers a great all-round package. Easily the best double-cab pick-up on the market, both from an owner-operator and from a driver's point-of-view.
