Mitsubishi L200 Warrior - One minute test

Date: 26 August 2006

Price: £19,799

What's new: Mitsubishi's L200 gets all luxurious with the arrival of the Warrior double cab. It gains a leather interior, satnav, climate control and a 10 disc CD player and plenty of chrome.

Excellent: The L200 is still probably the pick of the pick-ups, offering the best drive, space for four and a big enough loadbay for most

Good: Liberal application of chrome highlights the Mitsubishi workhorse's great looks.

Average: The leather gives the impression of car-like luxury, but feels cheap and a little garish with the Warrior logo stitched in. The satnav doesn't integrate with the standard touch screen and needs a fiddly remote to operate.

Poor: The automatic box saps performance. If you want an auto, opt for the upgrade that boosts power from 136PS to over 160. On sale from May, it's expected to cost £600 + VAT.

Verdict: The least compromised pick-up for those who want 4x4 looks without a hefty tax bill.
