The start point for the best source of fleet information

Toyota Yaris 1.4D-4D T3

Date: 14 June 2006

What's new Our first chance to get behind the wheel of the diesel Yaris. We already know the petrol version is a great supermini, but is the diesel version worth an extra £1000?

Excellent

Strong 90PS diesel engine is superb and works well in town driving - not usually a diesel strong point. 62.8mpg is impressive.

Good Interior design is clean, unfussy, simple and because it's a Toyota you know it will never ever go wrong.

Average The only anomaly to the simple interior design is the central digital speedo which isn't to everyone's taste. And the plastics are a touch low-rent for the price.

Poor With a premium of £1000 you'll have to do your mileage sums to see if the fuel saving over the petrol (at 47.1mpg) is worth it.

Verdict Quite possibly the best and most sensible purchase in the diesel supermini market. But investigate going for the petrol and save £1000.
