Audi RS4 Avant: Test Drive

Date: 02 August 2007   |   Author: Tristan Young

Price: £51,830
Key rival: Mercedes C63 AMG

Some cars just aren't suitable for your traditional company car scheme and the Audi RS4 is one of them. The tax and fuel figures are all wrong.

Paying the taxman £604 a month is no fun in any circumstance, so you'd have to be in a cash-for-car scheme, and as it costs £51,830 it's likely you'd have to own your own company, or at least be on the board, to even consider an RS4.

But if you do or you are, then the 4.2-litre V8 420PS RS4 Avant is one special car. Aside from it being ultra-rapid with a 0-62mph figure of 4.9 seconds, it is the German brand's best all-rounder and second only to the R8 supercar in our list of favourite Audis.

The RS4 rides well over bumps, grips in all conditions and is fun without ever being hard work. And because it's an estate you can also take the family on holiday in it.

Verdict: If you have the funds, we highly recommend experiencing the RS4.
