If ever you wanted an illustration of how competitive the business car market is, five-seat Mini-MPVs are the perfect illustration.

It's a sector that shouldn't really exist because estates already cover most of these vehicles' capabilities. And yet the top three five-seat mini-MPVs sold 49,458 cars in 2006, making it a market well worth fighting for.

Ford's C-max is the latest to get a revision and the car now shares the seven-seat S-max's front end looks and much of the interior styling, too. Both changes are most welcome and help bring the car back up to date.

As with the entire Ford catalogue of cars the C-max's strongest point is that it is a fun drive as well as practical. However, with so many rivals appearing, costs are paramount too.
