Nissan 350Z: One Minute Test Drive

Date: 16 July 2007   |   Author: John Mahoney

Category: Sports
Prices: £26,795 - £30,795
Key Rival: Audi TT

What's new: Nissan's £28,945 muscular coupe has got the hump - that bulge in its bonnet. Under it lies a new, more powerful 313PS V6 engine. The 350Z has also had a mild facelift too.

Excellent: Performance is as strong as ever and the handling remains a joy. Better still, the engine's revisions addresses the low speed shunt and jerkiness that affected the old one.

Good: We think the 350Z looks as good as ever and the new car remains full of kit. Standard spec gets climate control, Bluetooth and 18-inch alloys. The £2500 GT pack adds leather, cruise and a premium sound system.

Average: It's a shame the GT pack doesn't include satnav, which is an extra £400. We weren't too inspired by the large engine's soundtrack either.

Poor: Make no bones about it, the revised 350Z won't be Business Car of the Year, with 24.1mpg and naughty emissions of 280g/km.

Verdict: The characterful 350Z is more tempting then ever - a perk car that's more interesting than a German coupe, but 48.9ppm is an issue.
