The start point for the best source of fleet information

Subaru Tribeca SE7 auto: First Drive

Date: 01 March 2007   |   Author: Tristan Young

Prices: £28,995-£33,995
Category: 4x4
Key Rival: Volvo XC90

Last year BusinessCar ran a long-term Isuzu pick-up, and as a result of servicing and one warranty issue we got to know our local Subaru/Isuzu dealer quite well.

He was particularly delighted the Tribeca was on its way as it would mean a welcome boost to him in terms of business, because not many were coming his way. Come to think of it, now that the car's on sale we've seen only one other. So why aren't Subaru selling more? Having driven the car and looked at the figures it's clear to see why.

The interior looks excellent in terms of style, but could do with a more quality feel, especially at this price. A Hyundai Santa Fe might not look as good inside, but it's a lot more roomy with better quality materials and is 5p a mile cheaper to run. At the same 53ppm a Volvo XC90 is a much classier option and has far more room inside.

Verdict: Great interior, shame about the costs and the exterior
