Citroen has given its lower medium C4 model a facelift, although it's one of those facelifts you wouldn't notice at first glance.
We'll tell you that there's a more rounded bonnet, the Citroen chevrons in the grille are restyled, the bumper's new and the number plate has been repositioned. Look closely and you'll also find better materials inside, while on this Coupe version (three-door to you and I) the rear lights' styling is tweaked.
But under the bonnet there is something completely new to the C4. Citroen has finally been able to use the excellent 150PS 1.6 petrol engine its parent company PSA developed with BMW. Only available in the three-door version and in top VTS trim, it's a cracking unit in performance terms, but it falls just the wrong side of the new 160g/km capital allowance threshold at 164g/km. Economy of 40.9mpg is reasonable, although the 45.9p per mile figure is hampered by a 30.5% retained value.
