Infiniti G37 S Coupe: Test Drive

Date: 28 June 2008   |   Author: Guy Bird

Category: Sports
P11D price: £38,000 (est.)
Key rival: Mercedes CLK

Pitched as a Mercedes CLK rival with more exclusivity, the Infiniti G37 Coupe is helped by being classically stylish.

It shares the same wheelbase as its saloon sibling so there is room for four proper rear seats, but the raked roofline makes the back suitable only for shorter adults.

The rear-wheel drive 320PS 3.7-litre V6 petrol two-door is available with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed auto option, and promises major performance plus handling tweaks for European tastes.

Safety includes a standard pop-up bonnet and ESP, spec will be BMW-plus and prices will range from circa £33-38,000.

Verdict: Smart high-powered petrol coupe, but conventionally so. No diesel option
