Our Fleet Test Drive: Ford Mondeo estate - 11th Report

Date: 04 December 2008   |   Author: Hugh Hunston

Ford Mondeo in snow

Since I took the keys to our Mondeo, it's spending more of its time in rural conditions, which has resulted in a 44.0mpg average over the latest 1000 miles.

That's edged the average to 40.0mpg, up 4.0mpg on my colleagues' city performance.

The looks are a handsome blend of form and function, and avoid the damning praise a senior Ford manager once gave the brand's Scorpio, which is the same size as our Mondeo, of which he said: "I love driving it because then I don't have to look at it."

The Mondeo ancestor did, though, pioneer the Quickclear windscreen, that takes the hassle out of unexpectedly snowy October mornings.
