Our Fleet Test Drive: Ford Mondeo estate - 6th Report

Date: 24 June 2008   |   Author: Guy Bird

Huge B-pillar

Gossip-hungry readers, I can only apologise. After months of reports peppered with problems this will be a trouble-free report.

Nothing has gone wrong, fallen off or made a funny noise for over a month.

A recent longer motorway also revealed just how great this car is at cruising. The 2.0 TDCi engine is well proven in other Fords, but I was amazed at how quiet and refined it was at high speeds in this estate and what a superb ride the car afforded. However, all that lane-changing and regular blind spot checking did reveal a slight design problem - an enormous B-pillar that blocks out a considerable amount of rearward vision. Oops.
