Our Fleet Test Drive: Hyundai i30 - 5th Report

BMW and Hyundai

I've grown accustomed to the i30's face. And its backside too.

I like the front end's subtle chrome strip and lack of gaping black-plastic 'mouth'. It is unobtrusive and efficient-looking.

But round the back is my favourite part of the Hyundai. The wide and low rear skirt provided by the body-coloured bumper mean the i30 appears to sit lower to the ground than it does.

It's the large concave section on the boot that most tickles my fancy, though, and ever since the car arrived it has reminded me of another rear end that I couldn't initially put my finger on.

However, it all became clear when one of our company car drivers parked her BMW 118d next to the i30. Yet while I'm a fan of the baby Beemer's looks, I prefer the Hyundai.
