Voice activation

Normally, voice activation is one of those bits of tech that sounds like a great idea, but turns out to be more trouble than it's worth, which is why it's taken several thousand miles before I've got round to giving it a go.

But the Merc's really works. Without any kind of set-up or voice recognition preparation, any driver can set the navigation for any street in the country, pick a particular track on a specific CD in the six-disc changer, or change the radio channel. The screen (pictured) even has a list of potentially helpful stock commands to save having to remember them.
