Our Fleet Test Drive: Peugeot 308 - 2nd Report

Hazards

After nearly 1700 miles on varied routes, including a Wales-Oxfordshire round trip, the 308's consumption has improved from an initial 51mpg to approaching 59mpg, testimony to the efficiency and flexibility of the lightweight 110PS 1.6-litre diesel under the bonnet, and despite the lack of a sixth gear.

The effectiveness of the brakes was demonstrated by having to avoid a flurry of road kill-scavenging red kites on a blind rural corner. Automatic triggering of the hazard flashers (pictured) arguably helped a following truck to avoid comprehensively shortening our 308.

For some reason the unobtrusive fascia screen cannot provide elapsed fuel consumption and range simultaneously.
