satnav screen and time

Our ever-dependable 1.6-litre 110PS diesel 308 is seemingly refusing to return below 50mpg whatever driving style is adopted.

Over the past 1000 miles the average was a shade under 57mpg and the accumulated tally runs at 53.4mpg.

These figures has been sustained on uncluttered motorways by engaging the logical cruise control system, which electronically manipulates the throttle up and down gradients more efficiently than most right feet can manage.

While we're pleased with the economy, there is one frustrating ergonomic shortcoming for a regular watchless passenger, and that's the lack of a permanently visible clock except on the often-stowed, fascia-mounted infotainment screen.
