Mirror

Although the Legacy's mirrors power-fold, they don't auto-fold when you lock the car. So the inevitable has happened.

While parked, and because we'd not pressed the fold button, the mirror-housing was clipped and chipped. Nothing big - the integrated indicator was still intact, as was the mirror and body-coloured front - but it was enough to let water into the electrics.

A call to the dealer revealed the parts cost was a monster £278 - before VAT and fitting - although labour was a very reasonable £38. So the bill came to £372 - expensive and avoidable if the mirrors auto-folded.
