Renault Laguna Coupe: Test Drive

Renault is no stranger to the coupe sector, although the new Laguna Coupe is a far more restrained and better business user proposition than the old left-of-leftfield Avantime.

Based on the new Laguna platform, the Coupe offers a sleeker roofline that, according to the French firm, brings the car into the same arena as the BMW 3-series and Audi A5.

However, with prices set to start at £20,995 for the entry-level 2.0 dCi 150 diesel when it goes on sale in the UK on 2 January, the Coupe is almost £7000 less than the equivalent BMW and has £1000 worth of added standard kit more.

That advantage, though, is eroded by the fact that the French car maker simply doesn't have the appeal of the premium German brands, resulting in a likely fall in depreciation that mirrors the Peugeot 407 Coupe, a car that's a more natural rival for the Laguna.
