Renault Laguna Estate: One Minute Test Drive

Date: 18 April 2008   |   Author: Tristan Young

laguna
Category: Upper medium
Prices: £16,960-£23,920
Key rival: Ford Mondeo

What's new: With the estate version of the new Renault Laguna just out, we thought we'd have a quick look at the petrol version for a change.

Excellent: The quality of the interior materials is first-class and the main build quality, too, seems excellent, although our car suffered from dashboard buzz at motorway speed.

Good: Equipment at £17,445 includes cruise control, front fog lights, keyless entry, anti-skid control and lumbar adjustment for the front seats.

Average: Performance from the Laguna's 2.0-litre petrol engine is a disappointment, especially if you're used to the surge of a turbodiesel.

Poor: The brake pedal is set significantly higher than the accelerator, making switching between the two pedals less than seamless.

Verdict: If you like your comforts in life the new Laguna is a decent option, but go for one of the many diesels.
