Citroen Berlingo Multispace Family Pack: One Minute Test Drive Review

Key rival: Fiat Doblo

What's new: Citroen has added a seven-seat option to the Berlingo Multispace. Called the Family Pack, the £800 option on VTR-spec models makes the Berlingo one of the UK's cheapest seven-seaters, and is available with a 110PS 1.6 petrol engine or, as driven here, a 90PS 1.6 diesel.

Excellent: Costing not much over £13,000 is great value for a car capable of carrying seven.

Good: The five rear seats are individual and can be folded or removed independently. There's plenty of cubby-hole storage in the cabin.

Average: The £800 premium over the five-seater is a little steep, while 154g/km of CO2 seems excessive for a car in the supermini sector, especially given the modest 90PS diesel engine and a CPM of 35.7 that isn't ground-breaking.

Poor: All five rear seats are cramped, as the middle row is moved forward to make room for the third. Individual seats don't fold flat so have to be removed and stored if you want boot space.

Verdict: An expensive option lacking in innovation and erodes some of the standard car's simple charm.
